Tales of the Rails: The Building of the Transcontinental Railway (30 minute 16mm film) broadcast on KUED, Salt Lake City May 10, 1994 and again on KRMA Denver PBS affiliate. The film won the Tilden Freeman award for best adapted history project for a National Park or Historic Site. This 30 minute 16 mm film depicts tales compiled by Bob Dowty for the Golden Spike National Historic Site in northern Utah. The film was developed for the Historic Site and is used in K-12 classrooms teaching the history of the building of the transcontinental railway which joined the east and west coasts of the United States in 1869. Funded by R Harold Burton Foundation, Union Pacific Railroad, South West Parks and Monuments Association.m $65,000 cash funded.
